What size tractor do I need?
As a general rule of thumb, we typically recommend 5 additional horsepower for every added foot of scraper. For example, a 6-foot scraper will typically require a 30 horsepower tractor. This is only an approximation, but it does help in selecting a grading system tailored to your specific needs. Certain heavier systems such as a 6.5' SkidMaster Pro will demand much more horsepower than a 6.5' Original SkidMaster.
Can the PILOT hydraulic system be used with any tractor?
Yes, the PILOT hydraulic system is able to be used with any type of tractor, regardless of size and hydraulic valve type. Because the PILOT system utilizes proportional valve technology, it is irrelevant what type of hydraulics you are using. Open-Center or Closed-Center, either type works absolutely seamlessly with the PILOT system.
DO I need remote hydraulic hook-ups on my tractor?
Primarily yes. Generally most tractors have some type of remote hydraulic system which is used for implements. In this case we would definitely recommend using these remotes for operating your LaserLeveling Grading system. If you are against using your on board hydraulics, as in many pull-type applications we would then recommend that you use our portable hydraulic unit in order to power the blade completely independent of the tractor.
Will your Sensor work with my laser?
Most lasers are compatible with our Sensors. We recommend that you purchase one of our approved laser systems to complement your precision grading systems, but we do not require it. Any laser which rotates and has an acceptable range and accuracy for your personal needs is compatible with LaserLeveling blades.
How accurate are the LaserLeveling Grading Systems?
Accuracy and precision depend heavily on materials and environment although it is safe to say that LaserLeveling systems have a tolerance and accuracy of approximately +/- 1/4".
How many square feet can you grade in one day?
Typically one person can grade roughly 50,000 square feet in an eight hour day. This figure is dependent upon material and conditions, but it is a very good ball park figure. Another interesting point of this estimate is that it is calculated utilizing a one-person operation, instead of the standard two man team.
Are LaserLeveling Grading Systems completely automatic?
Yes, our grading systems are completely automatic. Simply setup the box scraper and the laser and you are ready to grade. The PILOT system not only allows complete automation, but also gives you complete control over the speed with which you are able to grade.
